Four major states (Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak and Johor) contributed 57.9% to the country's GDP and comprised 45.5% of the Malaysia's population
Mining, manufacturing and utilities contributed 34.0% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2016, followed by wholesale, retail and hotels (19.3%) and financial intermediation, real estate and business activities (11.0%). In nominal terms, the three sectors are expected to grow by 7.2%, 9.1% and 8.3% respectively in 2017

As per World Bank's logistics performance index (LPI), transport and logistic infrastructure in Malaysia has deteriorated over the last two years with decline in rank from 25th in 2014 to 32nd out of 160 countries in 2016
