The Polish wealth market has similar distribution patterns to many developing nations. A small percentage of the population is considered affluent and of that, an insignificant proportion is HNW; however, this small affluent population holds the vast majority of the liquid assets in the market.
The Polish retail savings and investments market is set to continue on its growth path, driven by strong economic performance, high wage increases, and growing deposit rates. The vast majority of the onshore residents' savings and investments are allocated in deposits, a situation exacerbated further following the 2008 financial crisis.
HNW investments have a small allocation outside bonds, deposits, equities, and mutual funds. A large proportion of these can be found in hedge funds, followed by direct property investments. The limited allocations outside traditional liquid assets are again symptomatic of a market with an underdeveloped financial sector.
