About the Report
The report titled "Czech Republic Solar Photovoltaic Market Outlook to 2015"provides a comprehensive analysis on various aspects such as On-Grid and Off-Grid Cumulative and Annual Installed Capacity, PV power per capita, market segmentation and competitive landscape of the major players operating in the country. The report also entails the SWOT analysis of solar PV market in Czech Republic.
The future outlook presented the base case, conservative case and aggressive case scenario factor analysis providing an insight on the prospects in the solar PV cumulative and annual installed capacity for the country.
The Czech government has developed solar PV to meet its renewable energy target of generating 8% of the electricity from non-conventional sources in 2010. The boom in PV plants caused a considerable increase in government support for electricity buyout from non-conventional sources, which ultimately resulted in significant increase in electricity prices for final consumers.
The number of grid connected systems has also increased phenomenally from just 3 MWp in 2007 to 1,357.4 MWp in 2010. This was largely due to influx of investment from solar companies in installing new solar power projects in the country backed by the assured fixed electricity prices from the government for the sufficient payback period.
The solar PV power plants have increased at an exceptional rate in the past 3 years. The number of solar projects has increased almost 6 times from just 249 in 2007 to 12,861 in 2010. Most of the solar plants are smaller facilities while large plants with the output of several tens of MW contribute largest to installed capacity. Leading players in the Czech Republic solar PV market includes CEZ group which manages several large PV power plants in Czech Republic with an installed capacity of 125 MW. Other players which operate several large solar power plants in the country are Energy 21 and FVE Czech.
Thermal power dominates the electricity generation market with the market share of over 55% in 2010 and electricity generation of 49,979.7 GWh. Nuclear Power is the second largest sources of energy which contributed 32.6% to the total gross electricity generation from renewable sources. The electricity generated from nuclear power was registered at 27,998.2 GWh in 2010. Gas, Hydro, Solar PV and Wind contributed the rest 9.2% to the gross electricity generation in 2010.
The country has a mix of solar power plants in the range of less than 10 KW to above 3 MW. The major proportion is smaller facilities which contribute 2.1% to the total installed capacity in 2010. As the size range increases, number of power plants has decreased but the contribution to the total installed capacity has increased. There are only 140 power plants in Czech Republic with the output range of above 3 MW which accounted for 38.5% of the total installed capacity in 2010. While, there are 365 solar power plants with an output range of above 1 MW to 3 MW which contributed 638 MW of installed capacity to the cumulative installed capacity of 1,953 MW in 2010.
