Q2 2016 Global Refinery Maintenance Review-Asia Registers Highest Global Refining Capacity for Planned Maintenance

Summary

North America had the highest refining capacity under maintenance globally (including both planned and unplanned) in Q2 2016, followed by Asia. Among countries, Japan had the highest refining capacity under planned maintenance, followed by the US and India. The US, Ecuador and Czech Republic were the only three countries affected by unplanned maintenance in the quarter. Among operators, ExxonMobil Corporation, Reliance Industries and TonenGeneral Sekiyu K.K. were the top three globally in terms of total refining capacity under maintenance. Power outage was the most common cause of unplanned maintenance in North America, while water shortage caused the most unplanned maintenance in Asia during Q2 2016.
