On quarter-on-quarter basis, the number of deals increased and deal values decreased in Q4 2017, when compared with 793 deals worth USD38 billion in Q3 2017. The in vitro diagnostics market recorded the highest number of deals in Q4 2017 with 241 deals, followed by healthcare IT market with 136 deals. In Q4 2017, North America recorded 505 deals, as compared to 518 deals in Q3 2017. Mergers and acquisitions (M&As), including asset transactions, recorded an increase in the number of deals and a decrease in deal values in Q4 2017 with 131 deals worth USD10.9 billion, as compared to 118 deals worth USD18.8 billion in Q4 2016. On quarter-on-quarter basis, the number of deals and deal values increased in Q4 2017, when compared to 127 deals worth USD9.5 billion in Q3 2017.
